I Am a Spiritual Being – Define what it means to be a spiritual being living a human existence. Explore both spirituality and religious beliefs that shape your experience of life in this activity. Consider how your relationship with God, nature, and Earth serves to make your human existence more meaningful while nourishing the spiritual hunger of your heart.
Experiencing a Sacred Partnership with the Earth – Recover your spiritual connection by going into nature as Indigenous peoples do and observing the aliveness (the spirit/life force) of every living thing. As you observe this aliveness, you will notice how the Earth’s energy supports your own liveliness.
Do You Organize Your Faith around a Spirit Within? – Discern the difference between “organized religion” and “organized faith.” Explore a fast-growing group called the “nones,” a group that claims a sincere belief in God but does not adhere to a specific religious orientation. Find out if you, or someone else that you know, might be a “none” and consider how tolerance for one another’s religious differences and choices is necessary to heal the world.
Where, In the Universe, Does God Reside? – Read a weekly bulletin posted on the Conversations with God website by author Neale Donald Walsch and answer questions related to whether you believe God lives inside of you or outside of you. Is it arrogant to think or imagine that God exists everywhere else in the Universe except in you? Walsch claims it is, and he shares his story of “mistaken identity” to make his case.
Is God a Female? (Seeing the Feminine Face of God in Your Life) – Read an article by Anita Singh entitled “Bettany Hughes: Who Knows whether God is a Girl?”The article reported that Bettany Hughes, an expert in ancient history, claimed that Christianity was originally a faith where the female of the species held power. If you would like to explore the idea that God is a feminine force, reading materials are offered. You’ll also be given the opportunity to contemplate the essence of female beauty and power in your life that reflects the loving nature of God.
Religions of the World, Caring for Creation– Explore the many positive beliefs set forth by religious leaders who have been quoted as saying we have a sacred responsibility to care for life and creation. Learn about some of the faith-based ecological initiatives that are taking place in our country and decide whether you can help your church or community to curb the ecological problems through taking action. In this activity, you also gain access to several interdenominational organizations that educate on the connection between religion and the environment
Why Do Religious Organizations Spout Off Over the Privatization of Water? – Consider the impact of manufacturing and selling bottled water. Making Life Fuller When It Seems Half Empty – Think about whether you see your experience of life as satisfying and full or unsatisfying and empty. Reflect on five simple thoughts shared by a psychotherapist that can assist you to improve your perspective in today’s eco-challenged times.
Atoms, Molecules, and Our Eco-Integration – Visit the concept of eco-integration, or the joining of all parts of life, starting with your whole being and extending to Earth and all living things, which are designed to function through a positive exchange of energy. Imagine the “creative spiritual consciousness” at the core of all matter and the personal and planetary healing that might take place on a molecular and cellular level when we align our thoughts with that core consciousness.
Lifting Your Consciousness to Allow for Everyday Miracles – Read a quote that inspires you to affirm miracles. What undesirable outer conditions do you seek a miracle for? Or do you believe that the question of life’s origins can be answered by the scientifically based theory of evolution? Is it possible that you can believe in both at the same time? This activity shares perspectives from faith leaders.

In this activity, you will discover the value of creating an altar in your own home. You’ll explore the kinds of things you can place on your altar to make it both beautiful and sacred and support you in connecting with your spirituality.
Porchfests are music events where various neighborhoods set up porches and bands for afternoons of music! Typically, local musicians take turns playing for specific amounts of time. In this activity, you will get ideas for how to create a fun and memorable event that all ages can appreciate.
Using Breathwork to Heal the Eight Biggies of Human Trauma – Breathwork got its start during the consciousness-raising era of the 1960s and 1970s. In this activity, you will explore a few different types of breathwork that are used by trained Breathwork practitioners to help people heal memories related to birth trauma, as well as other life issues that hold them back. You’ll have the chance to think about how you breathe, what the goal of breathwork is, and how you can benefit from it, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Where Do You Look, To See the Face of God? – In this activity, you are asked thesequestions:If you were conscious of God’s presence, how would God show its face to you? Do you believe in your heart that God’s face is expressed in all living things, from people to the cosmos? Or do you see living things as simply the “dust of the Earth?” Is it possible to take God’s presence for granted to the point of no longer recognizing God’s face? A Duty to Spread Good News: Responsible Journalism in Irresponsible Times – What responsibility do journalists have in today’s eco-challenged times, beyond getting the facts of their stories right and delivering an unbiased account of the news? In this activity, you will be introduced to a handful of podcasts that invite you to gain different spiritual perspectives. What Will Your Legacy Be? – Leaving a legacy is important for many different reasons. It can serve as an example for current and future generations. It can also preserve memories and valuable life lessons for our families and friends. This activity invites you to share what you want your legacy to be and encourages you to know that your Eco-Mentoring Learning journey has been preparing you to leave a legacy that will be remembered and cherished because of your commitment to eco-intelligent living, learning, and healing.
Making Each Day a Holy Day by Walking in Beauty – The role of beauty is important in healing your relationship with life, the Earth, and all living things. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the wisdom of Native American tribes, who teach their children at a very young age how to make each day holy by walking a path of beauty in their lives. As you consider all the ways that beauty adds to the meaning of your life on Earth, explore when and how beauty reveals itself to you in each moment.
The World Isn’t Perfect, Or Is It?– Redefine what perfection means in this activity. Recognize that there is perfection in imperfection. You are asked to identify which of the six eco-principles need to be practiced to create positive change for a list of so-called imperfect conditions that exist in our world. Your answers define how all the principles work together perfectly to address the most difficult problems we face.
Seeing Your Beauty, Perfection, and Wholeness in the Mirror of Life – As you see your own beauty, perfection, and wholeness, you’ll step away from the mirror that hangs on your bedroom wall and stop perceiving the flaws and imperfections that give voice to your judgmental, critical self. In the “mirror of life,” you’ll learn to perceive your beauty, perfection, and wholeness through all things in nature that inspire you. To appreciate and identify the beauty in something, whether it is a plant, animal, or ecosystem, the spirit or essence of it must already live inside of you.
Is It Time to Gift Yourself a Soul Painting? – Some have referred to a “soul painting” as a work of art that reflects the artist’s spiritual journey. A soul painting has a dual purpose because the artist uses the painting process to help the viewer of his or her art tap into their own spiritual journey.
